About this project

I’ve spent the better part of the last three semesters working on a CoJMC reporting project called Native Daughters. And at this point, I’m not really sure what my actual position is, but I have worked as a designer, multimedia person and a project director.

In addition to all the goofy technical aspects of the project, I’ve learned a lot about Native American and diversity issues together. I’ve learned to put away preconceptions to work with people on a human-to-human level to understand issues that are outside my realm of life experience.

The highlight of my personal involvement with this project is the Voices: The Girls of Santee project, where I was able to interview six high school girls from the Santee reservation in Northeast Nebraska. As you’ll see, I took a rather experimental approach with the project as I cut each video interview up by responses and allow the user to ask specific questions on the girls, as opposed to editing videos into a static, controlled experience.

If you have any thoughts about the project, I’d love to hear them. Jump over to the contact page and shoot me an email.
